HalfTime is Game Time!

Friday Nights used to mean something very different to me then it does now. It used to mean loud sounds. It used to mean “mark time hut and!” It used to mean lights. It used to mean some footbaaaaaallll!!! I had almost forgot the rush I felt as an adolescent when Friday night came around. There was an innocent, yet mischievous energy about it. I was in the marching band and every Friday night that we had a game, a wave of excitement went through my body. Who was going to win, which band were we up against, how can a sneak a dance in between drum cadences?? lol. Yes, I was the girl dancing all the time (not much has changed there)! Whether away games or home games, it was going to be fun and sometimes filled with drama.

This past weekend I had the pleasure of seeing my niece be apart of the same atmosphere. I went to one of her high school’s game and was engulfed in the culture all over again. Nostalgia washed all over me as I watched her march, watch the football players run, and see all the different cliques of teenage girls and guys squander around the stadium like animals around the watering hole. It was a sight to see! It was also a family night, as my other niece and nephews, and sister, and friend were there as well.  With me living away from my family, I don’t get to see them as often as I would like, so it was nice having them around. I can’t wait to go again but I will limit myself. That time in my life has past and I have no intentions on living in yesterday!

When was the last time you went to a high football game?
